Cold Etching with Titan-etch
For Cold etching with titan-etch a well disssolved solution is required. The etchant will need to be heated at least 1 time before it can be used for cold etching.
If cold etching doesn't produce good results, the warm etcing process is recommended.
For cold etching please follow the instructions for warm etching with these exceptions:
- For cold etching use a stronger solution: Only add half of the distilled water when mixing the titan-etch solution.
- For cold etching a hot plate and pan are not necessary.
- The solution must be really well dissolved. This is very important. To fully disolve the solution heat the solution at least once to about 60-70 degrees celcius, and stir it for about 30 minutes and let the etchant cool down (repeating this process might give you faster reaction times). After this initial procedure etching at room temperature should be possible.
- Etching times for cold etching are considerably longer. It's difficult to give exact reaction times because they depend how well the solution is dissolved and the temperature of your room/environment. Good etching results can be obtained anywhere between 3 and 10 minutes.
